The new F-Series is already on sale and shipping in Europe, but this doesn't seem to be the case in the rest of the world. It seems that the Asia Pacific region will have the new Walkman starting this December as stated in this pdf. Unlike in Europe though, the Asia Pacific region will have a 32GB and a 64GB version.
I'm still undecided whether I will be purchasing the new F-Series or opting for a noise cancellation headset to pair with my Z1.
Thanks to sealplayerz for the information.
The F-Series is available in Europe, but only as a 32Gb model. I won't upgrade for the following reasons:
ReplyDeleteI currently use a 32Gb X-Series, currently it is creaking at the seams with music, I don't see the point of changing to a device that wil result in less music being on it, once the Android OS space is taken into account.
Hi-Res audio, albums are around 1Gb, so there is not much space for these (and 16bit audio), apps, videos, photos etc on the Walkman.
I don't understand why Sony produce what could be a market leader then cripple it with inadequate memory for it's use.
If internal space is an issue then get rid of the useless internal speaker and provide a microSD slot.
I agree, the lack of memory is a good reason not to replace unless it has more or expandable memary.
DeleteHope Sony will take notice of this.
It will be interesting to see how far the F-Series will spread in the Asia-Pacific region. They are on the Sony Singapore website (although not currently available), but there's no sign of them here in Australia or across the way in New Zealand. The previous version of the F-Series was not made available in Australia, so whether the new one will be, who knows. As for the ZX1...
ReplyDeleteWhy don't Sony poll Walkman users to see what they wany in a Walkman?
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above in that internal speakers are a waste of space (and sound crap) and that more memory is needed. In a consumer society I thought the customer got what he wanteed, though this seems to have escaped Sony
