A week ago Sony released a firmware update for the WH-1000XM5, and reading through some reports and user experience it appears that the NC issues caused by the Auto NC Optimizer may have been solved.
The update includes the following:
- Improves the Noise Canceling Optimizer function (Auto NC Optimizer)
- Improves the wearing detection function
- Improves general performance
The bold text is present on the update page, so it seems like Sony is really emphasizing this is the main feature to be updated in this new firmware. I have spoken to a few users who have tried the new firmware and a good majority report improvements in NC function. A few users reported no change but they did not have any issues with the NC function to begin with.
This update includes the previous updates which improves the playback stability and general performance.
If you own the WH-1000XM5 and have updated the headset, what are your thoughts? Has the NC function improved? Stayed the same? Gotten worse? Post your comments below.
There's also a firmware update for the WF-1000XM4: 1.5.0, but it only seems to come pre-installed on newer devices and as update to a few users https://www.reddit.com/r/sony/comments/x7ay93/sony_wf1000xm4_earbuds_on_firmware_150_wasnt_142/
ReplyDeleteI am sure it will roll out to the rest of the users soon enough.
