WH-XB900N, Wireless XB headphones with Noise Cancellation coming from Sony (update)

Sony has recently launched the new WH-XB700 wireless Bluetooth headphones, I wrote about these back in early January for the CES post, expecting them to debut there.  But instead Sony announced them back in early March instead, you can read more at PhoneArena.

But it seems Sony will not be stopping there, not too long ago, a new model passed through the FCC, the WH-XB900N, and not much can be see in the image from the FCC but comparing it to the WH-XB700 filing here, it seems these new headphones might just be the XB700 with Noise cancellation.

The XB700 appeared on the FCC in the middle of December 2018, and just went on the market around 3 months later, so we can assume the XB900N model could go on sale possibly in June or July of this year, or Sony will wait and unveil it at IFA 2019.

The XB700 uses the CSR8675 from Qualcomm, which has support of BT 4.2, aptX and active noise cancellation, so it would not be difficult to just rebrand the XB700 to the XB900N by just enabling the NC function on the chip and raising the price. The XB700 retail for 149 Euros, so I could easily see a price from 199 to 229 euros easily, but who knows how Sony will decide to price them but these could end up being a great set of NC XB headphones if priced competitively. The h.ear on 2 H900N are priced from 299 Euros, so I would expect a price less than this.

I would imagine we are looking at almost identical specs to the XB700, with 30mm driver, 30hr battery life (NC off), aptX support, Google/Alexa support, and USB-type C charging.

Internal code of the XB900N is currently unknown, the rest of the FCC documents will be available in early September, so perhaps this is hinting at the more probably release date, IFA?

More information will be posted if I find anything or receive anything. For anyone interested in buying the new XB700, please do use the Amazon links below, does help bring in some tiny amount to help run the site.

Update: the headphones have now been released, you can find the information about them here.
