Press Release
Boasting a new and improved design, Sony’s WH-1000XM3 flagship noise-cancelling headphones offer an excellent fit for all users, so they are just as comfortable on a long-haul flight as they are during your daily commute.
The outstanding multi-level noise-cancelling technology has approximately four times greater signal processing performance than its predecessor, and even adapts to different air pressures making them the perfect travel companion. Changing volume and selecting songs from your playlist is made easy via the touchpad located on the right ear cup, while additional functionality can be personalised on the Sony Headphones Connect app.
The battery life is up to an impressive 30 hours on one charge (with the noise-cancelling turned on) and a quick ten-minute top up will give you another five hours of listening time. The WH-1000XM3 come with a carrying pouch, charging cable, headphone cable and an airplane adapter.

The win is great news and not a surprise from all the positive reviews the headphones have received since their release. My only issue is the price, they are quite expensive so I would recommend people wait for discounts/sales on Amazon or other retailers.
So will Sony release a new model this year, the mark 4? This is unknown, nothing on the FCC has shown up yet and in the past 3 years, by this time, there was a FCC filing for the headphones already, MDR-1000X - June 26th 2016, WH-1000XM2 - July 4th 2017, WH-1000XM3 - May 29th 2018.
This does not mean a release will still not happen this year, a FCC filing could still take place in August or September and still have the headphones go on sale around the holidays. So while an IFA release for the mark 4 is unlikely, this does not mean we will not see later this year. If nothing is announced this year or an FCC filing occurs later on, October or November, then we are looking at a CES 2020 announcement.
