Another wireless headset from Sony has appeared on the FCC. The design looks to be similar to the older WS-Series Walkman, but these are just headphones according to the filing. They are manufactured in Thailand, which is a change, as most of Sony's headphone came from Malaysia or Vietnam, and some in China. Perhaps this is a move by Sony to move away from Chinese manufacturing.
The filing reveals a 3.7V battery, but no capacity. Interesting enough the input voltage from the AC adapter is 100V/50Hz, an if my memory serves me right, this is what is used some parts of Japan. I have a few older Sony devices imported from Japan, and these definitely had 100V/50Hz AC adapters.
The report is only for BDR and EDR, which is regular Bluetooth and not your LE variety, so perhaps no LE Audio updates for this model? Perhaps the filing will be updated with BLE, but for now, the report states Bluetooth Ver 3.0+EDR. Would be odd for Sony to release a model with no BLE or even LE Audio as this is the way forward next year.
There is not much else in the filing, apart from the date for the end of short term confidentiality, which is January 21st, 2023.
Update:
Thanks to Bluetooth SIG, we now know what this headsets model designation is, WI-OE600. If it will carry this name or change to something else is not known to me at this moment.
Likewise from the certification, we also know it will support AAC and SBC codecs. I do not think we will see any LDAC support.
Looking at the combined designs, we are looking at a Realtek chip here, while the exact version is not shown, the first combined design (102756) shows the RTL8763, this is the same chip found in the WI-SP510 and WI-XB400. So it appears this will be more a mid-level device.
