Good news everyone! Well US residents. The new NW-A300 and NW-ZX700 Walkmans have appeared on Sony US' website. There is no date of availability for the ZX, but the new A is already available to order with a ship date of January 30th/31st.

The pricing is as follows:

NW-A306 - $349.99 USD

NW-ZX707 - $899.99 USD

Both models also appeared on Best Buy US. but so far are listed as sold out.

Unfortunately nothing on Sony Canada's website, or Best Buy Canada. but both models passed through Canada's Certification website back in December 2022. I feel Sony would not pass these through certification if they were not planning on releasing them in Canada.

Update:

While not on Sony.ca, the new Walkmans have appeared on www.theSonyShop.ca

The A is sold out, ZX still 2 units. but I would highly recommend not buying them there as both models seem to be volume limited like in Europe or US. No idea why Sony decided this course of action.

  3. I'm concerned about the A306's battery. If the past is any indication, Sony will discontinue battery supplies when the new Walkmans reach the end of their sale cycle. I for one would be very greatful if you could find any information about the battery, as well as potential third-party replacement options. Thanks.

  4. It appears the US version of ZX707 is crippled. Maximum output is 1.1mW. High gain is disabled. Who in their right mind would shell out $900 for a device that only outputs 1.1mW of power?

  5. It also appears some Sony Walkman NW-A30x units have a potential issue. Some units have a 10db drop in the low frequencies between 20hz-900hz documented on the website https://head-fi.org. At this point it is unknown if it is a hardware or a software issue. This issue seems to affect Japan models and possibly models from other countries. It will be interesting to see how Sony responds. Will they fix it or will they sweep it under the rug?
