Sony WH-ULT900N Leaked (Update 3)

Sony WH-ULT900N leaked

The Sony WH-ULT900N has leaked thanks to an Italian retail listing. We have all 3 colours, black, white and Forest Gray. So how to people like the design? Btw, these will be foldable like the WH-1000XM4 and WH-XB910N.

Update 3 (April 6)

Sony has asked the FCC to remove the YY2981 listing, originally dated October 13th. While the listing can be found via other methods, I am doubtful that we will see it reveal on April 11th as it was supposed to be. Whether we will see see an announcement of the 13th or 14th remains to be seen.

Update 2 (April 4)

Supposedly these are meant to be announced on the 13th of April according to a document on the FCC, thanks for a user pointing this out on the rumours page. Remains to be seen if the launch is still on for April 13th and if the Internal and External documents will be released on the 11th.

Update 1:

Here are some more details for the new headset, including what the ULT 1 and 2 settings are for.

  • Sony V1 Processor (MT2822)
  • Described as "Wireless Bluetooth Headphones with ULT POWER SOUND, deep bass"
  • ULT button with 2 functions:
    • Deep Bass - adds more weight to the vibrant lower frequencies
    • Attack Bass - increases the energy

Here are the rest of the photos and the specifications.

Edit, one thing I just noticed, even though the headset does has LE audio support in its Bluetooth listing, there is no LC3 codec support. Will this model also receive a firmware update which adds LC3 support? Not even the WH-1000XM5 has LC3 audio so which one will get it first?

  1. I think the design is great. Very eye catching, and clean. Is it just me or does the SONY logo appear to be one that changes colour in the light? 🤔🤔🤔

    1. I agree with you too the design seems to go off the usual neat kind of look, and yeah you probably are right about that color changing one or its just the color scheme of the logo. Besides that has there still not been any updates on the release?

    2. It's shocking how you got the description so accurate, not a fan of the mesh but it turned out just as you had predicted.

    3. Are Clear Bass / ULT Power Sound the same as extra bass?

    4. I suspect it is something new, but along the same lines.

    5. I know Clear Bass exists on source devices like Walkman and the Sony Headphones app on smartphones, but not sure what it would mean on headphones. ULT Power Sound certainly seems like something new, probably replacing Extra Bass, but wonder what the whole ULT1/ULT2 means! Different modes?

    6. I have updated the post with the relevant information for the ULT button.

  2. Hm is that the normal white or cream white, it looks to have a bit of a duller look

  3. You have mentioned, "fold like the xm4's and xb910n", but xm4's fold sideways while xb910 has them fold inward, so does that mean they fold sideways then inward?

    1. "these will be foldable like the WH-1000XM4 and WH-XB910N." meaning into a more compact shape, not how.

    2. Ah then by the looks of it, it seems to fold inward like the XB910N's

  4. When will they be available to buy?

  5. Will it release globally or will there be delays in some countries?

    1. well this is a leak and some retailers put up the information too early. I would think we will see these in early April, maybe even as early as this upcoming week.

    2. Well does that mean the products are already being shipped? Or something of the sort?

  7. Other than the ULT mode is there any obvious spec that makes this better than 910n? It's looks better and probably has slightly better ANC too. I just ordered a 910n for 100Eur wondering if I should cancel and wait for these instead. Thanks

    1. I'm the same but I'm holding back till they release and there's versus on them, but I'm kind of worried cause it shows they're out of stock on amazon, the 910's I mean but seeing that they're priced lower(ULT's), I don't know if they'll turn out to be better

    2. im the same i just ordered ones on sale on one of my local stores but if this comes early will they be much better? worth the wait? or too much increase in the price?

      Delete
    3. The price will surely decrease but, if Sony decides to take them(910's) off the market then nah the price will go high instead so, if you're sure you want them, I guess you could keep them or if there's an option to return them then, wait till these come out (Sony stated April 13 somewhere), do a comparison then decide.

(Completely out of stock on amazon on my side fml)

  8. Sony's sure taking its time with this one

  9. What do you think wait for the ult900n or take the 910? Aren't they already "outdated"? These will be my first higher-end headphones than $50.

    1. Quite a lot are similar though, the charge duration, the V1 processor, both are extra bass but ult's seem to have it better? I'm waiting it out for a versus on them

  10. This was not the Update 3 I was looking forward to
