One major complaint regarding the Android-based A-Series and ZX-Series walkmans is the mediocre battery life. The larger screens are one reason, but using Android OS is another big factor. So Antonio Cirielli, who is an Android developer and Walkman fan, has developed a Walkman Battery Saver app.
The app can be found here on the Play Store. I have not tested the app myself, but according to Antonio, there is a noticeable improvement in battery life. Features includes:
- Completely FREE (no ads)
- Super lightweight (3mb or less)
- Simple and clean UI designed for small screens (like walkmans)
- Doesn't turn off Wi-Fi, if music is playing to avoid audio streaming issues
- Doesn't turn off Bluetooth, if an audio device is connected
Please check the app out and provide feedback either in the comments below or through the Google Play store. With more users using the app and testing it, it can be further improved.
It looks like there might not be any new Walkmans this year, or if any are released, it will be later on, closer to holidays or after the new year, so I am saving up for an A-series and will definitely test this out once I get it.
Do you think going forward any of the A series walkman will discard android? If not then I'll buy an a55 because I really do not want an android based dap.
