Sony CES 2024 Preview
Sony will be holding their CES 2024 press conference at 5pm local time. Check the YouTube video below to see a countdown in your local timezone.
The video hashtags do not reveal much, we will definitely see more from Sony's joint venture with Honda and their Afeela brand, that is certain.
The WH-XB920N could launch at CES, but the FCC dates indicate a launch
closer to Spring 2024. So my thinking is we should see these announced later, Spring 2024, or in the February to April timeline. Although Sony could pull a surprise at the show.
I suspect Sony will preview some of the camera tech used on the upcoming Ghostbusters film. Sony's Creator App could get some air time, maybe new features or new device support. Or it will just be mentioned by some guest how they make use of it.
Back in 2021 during the press conference video, Sony previewed a headset which would become the MDR-MV1. So could we see a new non-wireless headset to replace the MDR-1AM2 for example? While it would be great, I do not think we will see anything. If we were to see a new high resolution lineup of headphones and Walkmans, I suspect they would get their own press conference, along with a teaser a week prior.
I am sure we will see new TVs as is usual, perhaps finally some with LE Audio or LE Audio ready with updates later in the Spring. Along with TVs, perhaps some sound bars and wireless speakers could make an appearance at the show.
Perhaps we will finally get a new WH-1000XM5 firmware which adds LE Audio support.
What would you like to see at the show from Sony or in 2024 in general?
Just like last year we won't see any new Sony TVs at CES 2024: https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/sony-new-2024-tvs-ces-mini-led-backlight-exposed/
ReplyDeleteGiven the "importance" of consumer electronics other than TVs and Alpha cameras (the new a9 III has already been announced) at Sony in recent years, I predict, we won't see any specific device announcements at all. But I really wish I will be wrong.

It would be great to see a successor to the NW-A50 Walkman with the USB-C port. Also I would like Sony to consider a portable version of Bluetooth headphones with LDAC support ... something similar to WH-CH520.
ReplyDeleteWould be great to see a new A60, perhaps one day. As for LDAC and lower end, with the WH-CH720N not supporting it, I don't think we'll see a headset like the WH-CH520 support it. Which is unfortunate.
DeleteI would love to see an A60. TBH, I still use my A50 more than my A300, which is unfortunate that I can't get onboard with Android interface.
ReplyDeleteAny idea if/when Sony might release a wireless signature series IEM?
