Sony has finally teased their upcoming WH-ULT900N wireless noise cancellation headset. The main clue is the ULTIMATE wording in the teaser. Likewise the video hashtags also indicate we are looking at an audio product, such as audio, music, sound, and bass. The video also has uses the ultimate hashtag further connecting the announcement to the new headset.
The design and most of the specifications have leaked and can be found in my post here.
Update April 10
Quick update, so it appears that the WH-ULT900N will NOT support LDAC according to its specifications on Sony's own support page. I honestly hope this is typo, otherwise this would be a major downgrade from the WH-XB910N. The retail listing from Italy mentioned LDAC support, so not sure what the deal is now. Guess we wait for the reveal now.
The headset is described as "Wireless Bluetooth Headphones with ULT POWER SOUND and deep bass". There is a ULT button on which allows the user to select 2 different modes. This is where the ultimate branding comes from.
- Deep Bass - adds more weight to the vibrant lower frequencies
- Attack Bass - increases the energy
The design of the headset can be seen below for those who have not seen it.
Sony will have a live event on YouTube this upcoming week on Wednesday, April 11th at 9am PST. Time zones for other areas:
- New York - April 11th, 12:00 EST
- London - April 11th, 17:00
- Berlin - April 11th 18:00
- Hong Kong - April 12th, 00:00
- Singapore - April 12th 00:00
- Tokyo - April 12th 01:00
- South Korea - April 12th 01:00
- Melbourne - April 12th 02:00
One aspect of the video title I find puzzling is rather than "product announcement", it says "products announcement". Can we expect something else to be revealed? I know Sony has a new neckband speaker coming, so perhaps this will be revealed as well.
Video stream below.
Does this mean its back on the fcc page?
ReplyDeletenot in the search results from what I can see
DeleteLooks like its back on fcc
Deleteyes it is back, still seeing the internal/external documents as April 11th, so hopefully we can see them this week after the reveal.
DeleteThanks for the 5 star reporting as usual!
ReplyDeleteLove the style, like the previous XM3s/XM4s. Hope they ditch the XM5 cheapness
ReplyDeletewill it have a carrying case?
ReplyDeletedoes not look it, at least according to the specifications from sony's support site
Deletean update to the update on the specifications above, the website itself is not there anymore
ReplyDeleteyes it has been removed, it will be back up after the announcement. Pages like these usually disappear once I post about them.
DeleteThe screenshot from the support site mentions the name "ULT Wear", interesting. I wonder if this will be another "named" headphone, like the LinkBuds, Float Run, InZone, or possibly a range. I suppose if the headphones are the "wear", maybe new wireless speakers to match?
ReplyDeleteBoth ULT Power Sound and ULT Wear appear as trademarks on https://trademarks.justia.com/793/72/ult-79372074.html. Other than ULT Wear, it mentions ULT Tower and ULT Field.
I suspected as much, perhaps we could even see a return of a set of earbuds with this ULT wear branding. great find.
Delete"Low energy (LE) audio technology enhances the Bluetooth audio experience"

Misleading advertising or a hint that Bluetooth LE/LC3 will be supported in the future?
E_D___B
technically Bluetooth LE is not LE Audio, as it is bluetooth low energy. But soundguys review does mention a firmware update will be coming which will bring LC3 and this is LE Audio. The headset is certified for LE audio. Rather surprised it didn't ship with it. Granted, not even the WH-1000XM5 has LE Audio yet.
DeleteLDAC seems to be supported as per,

Are there no more updates?
ReplyDeleteworking on a post right now, but debating whether to wait for the fcc internal documents to be revealed so I can add them.
DeleteAnything on the release dates for countries?
DeleteAren't the internal docs open now?
Deletenot yet, the file is available to click but no pdf connected to them, so an error pops up
Deletejust went to a sony store yesterday and asked them about the official release and they said it will release at April 26 "nationwide".
ReplyDeleteIs this US? because I same areas are already shipping them to buyers in some parts of the world.
Deletehere in the philippines
