Sony NW-A300 and NW-ZX700 Walkmans Android 14 Update Testing (Update)

For those wondering if we will see any new Walkmans anytime soon, I do not believe so. But there is some good news. Thanks to Ed again (who found the Android 13 update), we have 4 Geekbench benchmarks for the NW-A300 and NW-ZX700 Walkmans sporting Android 14.

Update 27-07-2024

A new geekbench listing has appeared for both models dated from July 26th.

More testing is good, hopefully we will see a release soon. Source at the end of the post (5, 6). End of update.

The scores are more or less identical, but the OS does show Android 14.

It could be a while before we see this firmware update, perhaps 2-3 months but at least Sony is testing the new update right now. Not sure there will be any major changes on the audio side of things, but Android 14 does have battery life improvements, so there is that to look forward to. Thanks again Ed.

Thanks to AKELLA on Twitter, Android 14 has "global lossless audio than can bypass the typical android filtering and resampling process". This would be great if Sony adds this with the new update.
