Sony Xperia 1 VIII and 10 VIII appear in IMEI Database

This news comes to us thanks to Japanese tech blog S-Max, who have spotted the upcoming Xperia models in the IMEI database from GSM Association. While we already have the full set of PM codes, we lacked the XQ codes until today.

The models from the IMEI database:

• PM-1520-BV - XQ-GE54
• PM-1521-BV - XQ-GE74
• PM-1525-BV - XQ-GE44
• PM-1533-BV - XQ-GH44
• PM-1534-BV - XQ-GH54
• PM-1535-BV - XQ-GH74

Based upon previous models of the years, the 44 model should be the SIM-free Japanese model, 54 the EU/EK model and 72 the China/Taiwan/Asia model.

Likewise, using past models for reference, the Xperia 1 usually came first in the order with the Xperia 10 following, so PM-152x-BV should be Xperia 1 VIII, and PM-153x-BV will be Xperia 10 VIII. This means the new 1 will use XQ-GE## and the 10 will use XQ-GH##. Hopefully we will see some benchmark listings in the near future.

The IMEI allocation in the database does seem to fall in line with the past code appearances in the SIM database from November 2025. This is good news for Xperia fans, but anyone outside Japan/Asia/Europe, will still need to import the phone at full cost if they want to own one.
