More colourful, more compact: h.ear on 3 mini wireless, the Sony WH-H810 (update)

For those who prefer more portability, the new H810 headphones come in a convenient, foldable design with on-ear cushions. With new touch sensor controls, voice assistant, and up to 30 hours battery life, you can enjoy high quality wireless audio easily wherever you go.

With the Quick Charge function, a speedy 10-minute charge would grant you 3.5 hours’ worth of entertainment. The Sony | Headphones Connect app is also compatible so you can personalise your music.

We are again looking at the same situation as with the previous generation. Similar design to the larger brother (WH-H910N) but lacking noise cancellation and a more compact design. The WH-H810 also features the same colours, black, red, orange, green and blue. The only difference is the battery, rated up to 30hours and full recharge only 3 hours.

I mentioned in the WH-H910N post that the smaller drivers may have an effect on the sound, but it seems Sony has solved this issue.

Small but powerful 25mm drivers with highly rigid aluminum domes and soft urethane edge diaphragms, achieve the same sound pressure as conventional 40mm drivers – ideal for reproducing a full range of frequencies from low beats to soaring vocals.

Really curious if Sony was able to make the drivers smaller, yet retain the same level of sound quality and loudness. As for when these go on sale, hard to find anything specific, but I would guess at the same time as the WH-H910N, so December 2019 or even January time frame. Personally wondering why Sony decided not to sell these in many markets, perhaps they did not sell well?

Update: So the Bluetooth certification has appeared for the headphones, the combined designs is identical to the WF-1000XM3 and WI-1000XM2. Here is the link to the chipset, my guess is we are looking again at MT2811SP, which might be a rebranded Airoha AB1552. I will have an article about this later on explaining my reasoning.
