Sony to expand their X-Series Wireless Speaker Lineup with 3 New Models

Sony SRS-XG500

Sony will be expanding their lineup of portable wireless speakers this year. There will be 3 new additional models coming, the SRS-XG300, SRS-XE300 and SRS-XE200. Two of the speakers were recently registered with Korea's FCC, the SRS-XE300 and SRS-XE200. I suspect these will be the more portable models.

The filings do not reveal much except their place of manufacture, China. Digging further online, I ran into another certification document from the Philippines, which revealed the third speaker, the SRS-XG300. I suspect the XG300 will be a smaller and more affordable version of the SRS-XG500 that is shown at the top of the post, but it will look different I think.

The speakers will come with Bluetooth 5.2 support and use the Mediatek MT2822A Bluetooth SoC on the Sunitec BMS002 wireless module (see below). If the BMS002 name looks familiar is because I wrote about it in the WH-1000XM5 post. I initially thought perhaps that Bluetooth SIG posting was the new WH-1000XM5 but was not 100% convinced. The Bluetooth listing can be found here

The X-Series line from last year also uses a Sunitec chip, the BMS001 which employed the Mediatek MT2811B/A Blutooth SoC as its main wireless chip. I will make another future post comparing the two different modules.

Neither of these speakers have show up on the US FCC as of this post (March 24th), so when these will debut is unknown, but I feel we might be looking at an April or May debut, similar to last year's debut. As always, if anyone has anymore details about the speakers, feel free to contact me or leave a comment below.
