Firmware Update to Version 3.01.00 for NW-ZX700/NW-A300 series
A new software update for the Sony A-Series and ZX-Series Walkmans. Previously the Walkmans received the Android 14 update. This time around it is just security updates along with improvements in general performance, whatever that means.
You should get a notification for the update on your Walkman. Make sure the Walkman has at least 60% battery before updating. The updates are pretty large, both over 1gb according to the support pages. Although I suspect this is because it includes the previous update, which was the Android 14 OS update.

Praying at some point they add in bit-perfect playback from other Android apps. It's literally a feature baked into A14, but I'm not getting my hopes up lol

DeleteI feel like Sony won't release any new players before 2026. I have my doubts that we'll see another WM1 because the ZX700 got so close to it and A300/ZX700 are still relatively new and will be supported at least until 2025-10-31.
DeleteAndroid 14's bit-perfect mode is not mandatory and applies to USB output for external DACs - not something one would like to use with a Walkman DAP.

I could be wrong, but I believe bit perfect audio is up to the app developer to use the API. There is nothing Sony had to do other than pushing the Android 14 update.
DeleteSony needs to implement it into Android 14 and each developer into their app.

I've never been able to update the software, the progress bar stays at zero.
ReplyDeleteare you using the wifi option or download through the music center software? did you try a reboot?
DeleteAs with the non-Android Walkman players, they seem to fully flash the partitions, aka they don't send you only the difference between 2 versions.
