Firmware Update to Version 2.9.0 for WH-1000XM4

A new firmware update has popped up for the Sony WH-1000XM4. I suspect this covers the same Bluetooth security issues found in the WH-1000XM5 firmware, which Sony updated in late February.

  • Enhances the security features of the system software

Both the WH-1000XM4 and WF-1000XM4 received a firmware update to address the security issues in October 2024. I am wondering if the WF-1000XM4 will receive a second update as well.

For those curious what these updates address, I have more information here.

    Your suspicion is correct.
    The reporters state that this vulnerability is classified as the same type as the vulnerability in the WH-1000XM5.
