Sony WF-1000XM6 (YY2985) is Coming, But when? (Update)
I know people have been asking about the new WF-1000XM6 but there was no information, until today. Thanks to James and Mr Walkman, we know the WF-1000XM6 is coming sometime in the near future, and we know the YY code, YY2985.

Sony has removed the WF-1000XM6/YY2985 references from the Sony Sound Connect app. Rather a coincidence this happened after this post went up? Thanks to James for the information again.

The information comes from the Sony Sound Connect app, and thanks to their handy work, we know the WF-1000XM6 finally exists. When it will be released is unknown, but this is a good sign and we now wait for certifications to appear.
Since we know the code, it will not be hard to identify it. My guess is we might see certifications appearing soon, and an announcement in the Fall, so maybe August or September?

After months of waiting and checking here, I bought the technics AZ100 last week instead. Damn.

well nothing is impossible, there have been models in the past where a model appeared on the fcc, and 3-4 months later, it was announced. see my post here for info about the previous model's release dates and fcc dates.

after the battery life on my wf-1000xm3 started to go, I bought the wf-1000xm4. I was unlucky and had severe battery drain on my model. Sony did replace the battery but that battery didn't last either. Skipped the wf-1000xm5 and got a technics az80. if the new model doesn't improve on the wf-1000xm5, I'll replace the az80 with the az100.

DeleteI've already had both which are excellent and that's my dilemma. Since the 80s I always buy Panasonic/Technics first, otherwise Sony. For mobiles there is only Sony Xperia. But then keeping either Technics my first choice (EAH-AZ100) or Sony (WF-1000XM5 then XM6) makes more sense with the mobile of the same brand... (. the long-term goal is to keep only one of the two) that's why I would like the XM6 to come out this summer to be able to compare.

ReplyDeleteI've had the xm3's for 4+ years now. The battery life was failing so ordered replacements and it's been good. Eagerly waiting for xm6's, a long due update.
ReplyDeleteThe WF-1000XM4 has been serving me well for 2 years, dropped multiple times and it still going on strong, hopefully the new XM6 will be as durable as its predecessor, eagerly waiting for its release.

ReplyDeleteI don't think they will, as the code is also the internal code HDX-2985, and the same code on the PCB components, as well, and no doubt the device is already either in product or soon to start.
