Sony YY3006 - New Over-Ear Headphones (Update)

With the recent INZONE announcement, we were left with only a few unreleased models from Sony. First the WF-1000XM6 (YY2985), YY2998, and YY3004. But now, a new model has appeared in import listings, HDX-3006. Only Sony uses the HDX code for, and they did for almost all of their previous models as well, see this post here.

The import listings indicate we are looking at an over-ear model as there is a slider component, which is preset in such models. We only have components so far, with no actual headset imported for testing. Hopefully once more listings go up online, we will get better sense of what this could be.

Considering YY3004 is an in-ear wired model, perhaps this could be the new WH-CH720N or WH-CH520. Unless it is something completely new and different. But at least we know it is an over-ear model, so anyone's guess as to what this is, is as good as mine. If anyone has additional information, please drop a comment or contact me.

Update - December 31

Some conflicting information/data. YY3006 appeared in import filings, but the description is rather confusing. Both units imported into the Netherlands in November, HS code is for earbuds.

"WIRELESS BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES (INCLUDING HEADSETS THE HEADSET MUST AND CHARGING BOX), BRAND: SONY, MODEL YY3006"

The previous import filings did mention earphone, so perhaps this model is a set of earbuds. But does Sony really need another set of earbuds? 

I will just mention that I have also discovered about 15 or so more models but they all use the same description, like YY3006 above. The only difference is the date of the import filing and country of import.

"WIRELESS BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES (INCLUDING HEADSETS THE HEADSET MUST AND CHARGING BOX), BRAND: SONY, MODEL YY####" 

The only difference is the model, ranging from YY3001 to YY3046. Puzzling.
