Sony CES 2026 Preview
I remember when CES was something to look forward to. New tech and sometimes even concepts. But now, meh. Guess the Consumer part of Consumer Electronics Show died. I do not even remember the last time Sony showed anything of interest at the show, maybe 2021? or 2020?
The chance of the WF-1000XM6 appearing is slim to none, first, there has been no teaser, which is usually the case, and second, the show is for Sony Honda according to the schedule.
This probably means the press conference will be dedicated to Sony's JV with Honda with their Afeela brand. I actually had to Google the name, as I did not remember how it was spelled.
As for what Sony will talk about at their press conference, my guess is it will be ai oriented. Perhaps related to car safety and driving. A good chance Sony could preview the Afeela SUV as a final pre-production model.
I do not expect any TV related news to be revealed as I suspect Sony would rather reveal their lineup at a dedicated event for their new True RGB Bravias fro 2026.
If you wish to watch the press conference, it should be streamed on this channel. Edit, here is the video.

Because there is no point in showcasing legacy products anymore at an event that is supposed to showcase future tech. TVs, cameras, audio....is all stuff that is better suited to Sony's own presentations. Otherwise it all just gets lost in the noise of CES. Mobility tech is Sony's future it makes sense for them to focus on that and use the CES platform to showcase their future. The Afeela 1 is loaded with Sony audio. For example the EV interior uses Sony's noise cancelling tech.
ReplyDeleteI remember when cars were revealed at CAR shows, not electronics shows. who cares if the car is loaded with sony audio, means jack.
Deletei think Sony will become irrelevant 10 years later, if already not.
ReplyDeleteSecond oldest continuously operating semi-conductor company in the world (after Texas Instruments), large share of CMOS market, gaming, media, etc. While I too am disappointed they don’t focus much on audio anymore (though I still hope for an 80th anniversary signature collection this year) Sony isn’t going anywhere.
DeleteThat's egoistic and obnoxious of Sony. Consumer electronics show means not car.
