Sony WI-1000XM2 revealed via Certification

Sony WI-1000XM2

The upcoming Sony WI-1000XM2 has been revealed by a certification document found on Google Drive. I would like to thank @AMNOSSOUL from Twitter for the link to the documents. The link can be found at the end of the post. The documents reveal a few things, first new design, LDAC support is present, aptX is not, Bluetooth 5.0 is confirmed, along with NC and NFC. Unfortunately the does not provide hours of operation for now, but charging time is 3.5 hours.

Other information from the documents confirms the same BT chip, Mediatek MT2811 and a few more chips which are similar to the WF-1000XM3, like Q128FWY. There also appears to be a Sony chip, CXD98050 or CXD96050, but I am unable to make out the numbers clearly. If anyone can make out the actual number of that CXD chip and any others, please leave a comment.

Just a few thoughts on the design, it looks good but a bit cheap in these photos, but hopefully that is down to the fact it is still a prototype. The colour scheme should follow the WF-1000XM3, so black and silver. The controls being moved to a remote on one of the cords is a good idea and there appears to be a 3.5mm jack on the left part for connecting the bundled headphone cable. This is a change from the WI-1000X, which had a dedicated USB to 3.5mm cable. The lack of aptX is disappointing but expected with Sony dropping the Qualcomm chip but it is good that Sony added LDAC support. Finally the certification reveals the code, HDX-2928 (see below), meaning that the HDX-2941 I posted earlier is something else, perhaps WH-1000XM4?

LDAC support from the reference manual, see below.
