Sony WF-H800, New Wireless In Ear Headset coming soon
Looks like Sony will have a lot of debuts at IFA or soon after IFA. Another wireless in-ear headset has shown up on the FCC, the WF-H800. Little is known about this device, but it will feature Bluetooth 5.0 and should be using the MT2811 BT chip so no aptX/LDAC support. It should be positioned under the new WF-1000XM3 in price.
The photos on the FCC do not provide much information or details but we know it will be an in-ear type of wireless headset, a simple design from the photo from the documents can be seen. I do not believe NC will be offered here but I could be wrong. Just like all new Sony headsets, we can expect USB type C to be present. I do wonder if we are looking at a new member of the h.ear in family (h.ear in 3) to complement the upcoming WH-H910N.
The documents show BLE using 2Mbps which is only available in Bluetooth 5.0.
Finally a small tidbit I found in the documents, where it mentions software for operating mode, which I guess is for testing the Bluetooth functionality, it has MT2811S_BT_Test. I guess we are looking at another Mediatek MT2811 device here, so no aptX support and no LDAC. This could line up nicely with that unknown device, the HDX-2941, which uses the MT2811, but this is only a guess on my part.
Update
The Korean Communications Commission had the device up earlier than the FCC, August 8th versus August 18th for FCC. So this should be a global device, unlike the WF-SP900.

so literaly no hope for wh-1000xm4 to be coming out in this year's IFA?
ReplyDeleteFor now nothing on the FCC regarding any mark 4, but even if it appears after IFA, it might still be released later on this year, november/december timeframe. So there is still hope for this year, just don't think IFA is the place we will see it. Unless Sony pulls a trick on us an shows it at the show.
