Firmware Update to Version 2.0.6 for WH-1000XM4
Sony's newly announced WH-1000XM4 already have a firmware update. For those lucky to own the new headset, check out the update on your "Sony | Headphones Connect" app.
The updates brings the following changes:
- Fixes an issue where, when there are 2 Bluetooth devices connected at the same time, the connected devices repeatedly disconnect and reconnect
- Improves general performance of the headphones
Not sure how such an issue was not addressed before the launch but if you are experiencing this, the update fixes this.
The update size is 4.0 MB and is expecting to take 40 minutes, which again if you ask me is a big ridiculous, and would love to have an option where you can connect the headphones to the phone or PC to update the headset using the USB cable.
Some precautions before updating according to Sony:
- Do not charge the battery or turn off your headphones while downloading updates, transferring data, or updating. Doing so may cause the headphones to become unusable.
- When updating without wearing your headphones, select "Do not turn off" in "Auto Power Off" in the "Sony | Headphones Connect" application. If you select "Off when headphones are taken off", your headphones will automatically turn off after approximately 15 minutes, and the data transfer of the update file will be interrupted. If this happens, the next time your headphones are switched on and Bluetooth is reconnected, the data transfer will resume from where it was interrupted. If you have changed the settings for this update, please restore the settings after this update is completed.
4 mb update takes 40 minutes? :/
ReplyDeleteThere surely has to be a reason for that.
DeleteAre there any tests for the usability of the headphones when playing movies and playing games wirelessly?
ReplyDeleteSince the update, I can no longer disable the voice pickup. Even in absolute isolation mode, I systematically hear voices around me. As for the version 3 of the headphones, the quality of the isolation takes a hell of a blow, it's incomprehensible...
ReplyDelete40min is maximum possible time, i updated mine today for 5-10 minutes
ReplyDeleteCannot solve the audio stutter and lag on my headset with Bluetooth connected to my audio receiver while watching movies/videos. Tried everything. Anyone?
