Sony Trademarked 1000X THE COLLEXION

 

Sony has trademarked something interesting, "1000X THE COLLEXION". The trademark was filled in late June in both Japan and Canada. The trademark hints at what products could be part of this series/collection in the description.

Sony WH-CH720N Firmware Update to Version 1.1.2

Sony has released a firmware update for the WH-CH720N. It addresses one issue with the iPhone and the security vulnerabilities would with Airoha/Mediatek chipsets. It is good to see Sony will be updating at least some of their mid level models, with perhaps further down the road the rest of the lineup.

Second Sony WH-1000XM6 Hinge Failure

Uh...wtf. Another post on reddit. Very similar failure, the metal piece dislocating from the plastic socket. This is not great optics, especially with the recent Xperia 1 VII issues. Here is what OP wrote:

The original user said they were careful with their headset, so they were surprised they actually broke, as the rest of the build quality is solid.

Sony Amazon Prime Day 2025 Deals

We are half way through the year and that means it is Prime Day on Amazon, and it is for 4 entire days. Whether you are a fan of Amazon or not, they do offer some pretty deep discounts. Plus their return policy is very good, as is the warranty. Firmware Update to Version 3.02.01 for NW-ZX700/NW-A300 series

A new security update firmware has been released by Sony for the A and ZX Walkmans. This brings the Android patch level up to April 2025.

Sony WH-1000XM6 Firmware Update Version 2.0.2

 

Sony has released the first firmware update for the new WH-1000XM6. There are a lot of changes in this new firmware, including the security updates for the issues with Airoha's chipsets.

Sony WF-1000XM5 Firmware Update, version 5.0.2

Sony has dropped a new firmware update for the WF-1000XM5, version 5.0.2, which is a big jump from the previous 4.0.2. Here are the changes:

Sony LinkBuds Fit now Available in Pink

Sony has added a new pink colour option to their LinkBuds Fit line. The new colour should be available in major markets already with availability expanding new regions over the next couple of weeks. Price is the same as the other colours.

Sony YY2998 - New Over-Ear Headphones

I have discovered a new Sony headset code, YY2998, in an import filing. The only information we have is the type of headset, over-ears, and the colours, black and silver. 

Sony WF-1000XM6 (YY2985) Import Filing (Update)

Back in May. the internal code for the WF-1000XM6 was revealed by none other than Sony in their Sound Connect app. Since that post, not only has Sony removed any mention of the WF-1000XM6 in the app, they also removed all of the YY codes.

The highly anticipated Sony WH-1000XM6 was finally announced last week. We had to wait an extra year for the new model, but was this wait worth it, or should you save your money, and keep your WH-1000XM5? Time for a deep dive of the new model. Sony YY3004 Certified (Update 3)

Back in February 2025, I posted about a new unknown model, YY3004. This information came from a knowledgeable source, but what they provided was limited. The only information I received apart from the model code, were the colours, black, white, and blue.

Say hello to the new WH-1000XM6. As of this post, there is no teaser from Sony, so either still too early or the headset will not be announced on the 15th. Sony Xperia 1 VII Announcement May 13

I do not normally cover Xperia news here, as there are other sites that do a much better job, but the teaser photo does show a Walkman, the WM1ZM2 Series. Sony removed the Walkman app from their Xperia line back in 2015. Now it looks like after 10 years we will finally see Walkman back in Xperia.

Sony WH-1000XM6 Specifications Leak (Update 2)

The specification of the Sony WH-1000XM6 have been leaked thanks to Amazon Spain and user peruho Unfortunately now photo in the listing, but have much of the new features. Sony YY2987 and YY2988 Appear On Certification Site (Update 7)

We have two new Sony YY codes, YY2987 and YY2988. I do not believe this is the WF-1000XM6, as YY2988 is identified as a wireless adapter (USB). The new codes appeared on the Mexican certification website.

A new firmware update has popped up for the Sony WH-1000XM4. I suspect this covers the same Bluetooth security issues found in the WH-1000XM5 firmware, which Sony updated in late February.

Possible Price Increases for USA (Update)

According to spektykles from Esato, the Sony WH-1000XM6 is slated for a May release. They did not mention specifically when, but one source told me early May, so either first or second week of May.

Sony WF-C710N Announced

Sony has announced the new WF-C710N, photos and details were leaked in my original post last month, but now we know the price and availability.

No New Sony Walkmans planned in the near Future

An unlikely source has revealed that Sony is not planning on updating their Walkman lineup anytime soon. The information comes from a FIIO Twitter post, stating that:

Sony has released a new firmware update for the WH-1000XM5. The update has only one change and it is related to security.

Sony WH-CH720N and WH-CH520 Upcoming New Colours

Sony will be introducing some new colours options for their WH-CH520 and WH-CH720N headsets. The WH-CH520 will receive a new pink and yellow colour option, with the WH-CH720N only getting pink. I suspect the WH-1000XM5/WF-1000XM5 pink colour introductions might have something to do with this. Sony should have released the pink earlier in order to take advantage of Valentine's day.

Sony WF-C710N Leak (Update 3)

 

A well trusted source has provided me with some photos of the new WF-C710N, along with new additional details. We already had the design leak thanks to a Taiwanese certification, but now we get to see the new model in much more clearer detail. All 4 colours, black, white, pink, and glass blue, which is the transparent colour.

Sony YY3004 - What is it?

A trusted source has provided me with a new model code, YY3004. The only information is the colour, black, white and blue. The jump to YY3xxx is surprising, as we still have many more other codes after YY2986 (WF-C710N), so a mystery on that front.

Sony WF-1000XM6 - What can we expect? (Update #2)

I know everyone is excited for the upcoming WH-1000XM6, but there a lot of people waiting for the WF-1000XM6, myself included. As of this post (February 9), no new model has been certified.

The only information we have comes from Xperia leaker Zackbucks, who said last July that both the WF-1000XM6 and WH-1000XM6 are supposed to be released in the first half of 2025. They did not mention if they would be released together or apart.

Based off past model changes, we can try and speculate what we could expect in the upcoming WF-1000XM6.

Firmware Update to Version 3.01.00 for NW-ZX700/NW-A300 series

A new software update for the Sony A-Series and ZX-Series Walkmans. Previously the Walkmans received the Android 14 update. This time around it is just security updates along with improvements in general performance, whatever that means.

Service program for WH-ULT900N ULT WEAR headphones

Good news everyone! Sony has finally admitted the hinge issue, but it is not for the WH-1000XM5, but ULT WEAR (WH-ULT900N). So if you bought a ULT Wear and have a broken hinge, time to contact Sony for a free repair.

Sony's WF-C700N successor leaked at the start of the year. and when I wrote the post, I was not sure if Sony would use WF-C710N as the new model name. Well I can now confirm that indeed WF-C710N will be the new model name for the WF-C700N successor.

Sony YY2986 Design Leaked (Update)

Sony's YY2986 leaking this early was not something I was expecting. Considering I first posted about the headset back in mid November, such a quick leak seems odd and maybe accidental. The leak is via Audix, which is Taiwan's certification body. We have full photos and some details like the internal battery capacties.
