Sony YY3004 Certified (Update 2)
Back in February 2025, I posted about a new unknown model, YY3004. This information came from a knowledgeable source, but what they provided was limited. The only information I received apart from the model code, were the colours, black, white, and blue.
When I first posted this information, the highest model code was YY2986 (WF-C710N), so I was skeptical. But now, we actually have a certification from Korea's RRA. The headset is made in Vietnam and is described as "Stereo Headphones".
Update 2 - June 26
We have another import filling confirming that Cresyn is the manufacturer of the headset. What is interesting is that this filing shows in-ear headphones, and the code 85183020 is for earphones, which could be either earbuds, or in-ear, WI model. This is rather confusing, whatever this is.
Update - June 24
We have an import/export filing for YY3004. The filing reveals the colour options, black, white, pink and LZ, which is probably blue. The model is described as "headphones without headband", and from the HS code, 85183020 (thanks Mr Walkman), we know these are "earphones". So from these details, we are most likely looking at earbuds. Question is, where would these be positioned? Sony already has the WF-C510 and WF-C710N, so either this model will be above the WF-C710N or below the WF-C510. But there is some conflicting information from other import listings.

Apart from the YY code, the model also uses another code name, EMP-SON026. I believe this an internal name from the OEM, most likely Cresyn. Earlier this month, I discovered the EMP-SON026 model linked to a steel washer used in speaker production. Back then, I still did not know that YY3004 was EMP-SON026, so I could not connect the dots.
Below are 2 screenshots from import sites, with the latter showing a bit more information. I believe this size (17x15x0.3mm) is what Sony uses for their 30mm drivers. I did check the washer on the WH-CH520 FCC internal photos and it seems to be of similar size.
But I am not sure why the dimensions are 17 x 15, and not 17 x 17, it is meant to be a washer, and those are usually round. Regardless, if EMP-SON026 uses this steel washer for its driver, then this will be an over-ears headset rather than earbuds, as such a washer would never fit into earbuds. I decided to keep digging for more information to see what I could find.
Here we have some additional details about the plastic mold, and the device is labelled as "earphone", not headphone. We have information about "lower case" and "mic lower", but this does not reveal what type of headset it could be. Sony uses HDX-#### for their headsets, so I recognized HDX3004. I decided to check if more listings used this code, and they did.
We have some more details here, like "mic knob" and "plug lower case". these could point to an over-ear headset. I do not think we would see a mic knob on a set of earbuds. I checked other filings, like HDX2986, which is the WF-C710N, and its listing had "case lid", "case outer" and "case top", none of which are present in the YY3004 listings. So for the time being, I believe YY3004 is an over-ear ears headset.
The initial first listing did show models with CE7, UC and CN region codes, so these might be production units.
There is only a Korean certification (see top of post), with no other certification sites showing this model. An FCC filing would help reveal at least what we are looking at. So for the time being, my hunch is this is a replacement for either the WH-CH720N or WH-CH520. If anyone has any information please contact me.
End of update
The only headsets which offers these colours are the WH-CH720N and WH-CH520. Both of these were announced in February 2023, so it is possible are looking at a successor of either model.
Depending
on the region, the WH-CH520 did have a 4th colour option, Beige, so
perhaps YY3004 is the new WH-CH720N, or WH-CH730N, assuming Sony will use the same naming scheme.
The description does not mention noise cancellation, only stereo headphones, but previous RRA certifications usually used "Specific low-power wireless devices (wireless devices for wireless data communication systems)" as the description, so stereo headphones could be a generic term.
I do find it strange we are seeing YY3004 before YY2985 (WF-1000XM6), but I guess this is how Sony rolls. If anyone has any further details about this model, please contact me.
